2020 LIGHT House Furniture Coordinator Summer VISTA
There is a “furniture gap” often felt when moving in chronically homeless families and individuals into new homes. This position will help bridge that gap and increase the scale of our furniture section through outreach, marketing materials and furniture inventory efficiency. Hesed House's mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and give people the chance to hope again. Hesed’s supportive housing programs serve the more chronically homeless population, with 61 households and 128 people currently being served. These individuals and families, all scoring among the highest on the Kane County Continuum of Care VI-SPDAT test (vulnerability index), need assistance in finding and attaining housing situations that will suit their needs. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website. This position can start any Monday in June. Speak to your interviewer for more details.
