2020 Food Storage System Coordinator VISTA Summer Associate
Creative organization and improving food storage frameworks in tight spaces are keys to improving efficiency in providing over 225,000 meals per year at Hesed House. This project will accomplish an increased efficiency in food distribution for our PADS Overnight Emergency Shelter, PADS Family Shelter, PADS AM Daytime Drop-In Center, Harbor Permanent Supportive Housing Program, and SEEDS Case Management Program. Hesed House's mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and give people the chance to hope again. Every year our homeless shelters serve about 1,000 people with nowhere else to turn. Community relationships and funding allow us to continue our mission of providing immediate food and shelter for those in need and give us the ability to return them to independent living. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website. This position can start any Monday in June. Speak to your interviewer for more details.
