2020 Family Activities Coordinator VISTA Summer Associate
This VISTA position will create and implement family activities for our PADS Family Shelter. This will include family bonding activities at the shelter, as well as free and low-cost community events that are family friendly. The events will help create a space within the family shelter structure to provide families with more dignity, less stress and more hope through the strengthened bonds of family. The community ties forged from finding free and low-cost activities for families, will help families be part of the community and remain effectively housed by broadening their networks. Hesed House's mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and give people the chance to hope again. Every year our homeless shelters serve about 1,000 people with nowhere else to turn. Community relationships and funding allow us to continue our mission of providing immediate food and shelter for those in need and give us the ability to return them to independent living. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website. This position can start any Monday in June. Speak to your interviewer for more details.
