Lonoke Community Development VISTA

With an active population of 4300, Lonoke lies just on the western edge of the Arkansas Delta. Sustained historically by the Rock-Island Railway, this now ag-based community is on the brink of a breakthrough. Serving to perpetuate this momentum, the City of Lonoke is pleased to welcome its new VISTA position. Our VISTA will serve to identify and secure additional resources enabling the Lonoke 2022 strategic action plan; a 5-year growth plan developed in 2017 through a grassroots process and conceived through community engagement. During this time, the people of Lonoke identified six priority areas to be addressed which included beautification and recreation, branding and marketing, downtown and retail development, housing and real estate, infrastructure, and jobs and education. Lonoke Mayor Trae Reed will oversee this effort and assign tasks that are complimentary to both current and future needs of the Lonoke 2022 team.
