Violence Intervention Coalition VISTA

SHARE Foundation, an operating foundation in El Dorado Arkansas was voted One of the Best Places to Work in Arkansas and One of the Top Non Profits of the Year by Arkansas Business, both in 2019. The Union County Violence Intervention Plan (VIP) was formed out of a concern for negative behaviors and the root causes of rising rates of crime and violence. As Union County Violence Intervention Coalition VISTA, you will be at the forefront of prevention efforts addressing at-risk behaviors that work to break the cycle of poverty and reduce crime and violence. Establishing life-long relationships with like-minded groups to develop, strengthen, and implement prevention and intervention efforts across economic and generational lines will become a reality. Being the connecting force between social service resource hubs, nonprofits and families in need will be the norm. There are six areas of focus: Mentoring, Re-entry, Neighborhoods, Parenting/Life Skills, Jobs/Targeted Education and Mental Health/Substance Abuse. In these areas you will strengthen programs impacting children, teens, their parents and grandparents, those reintegrating into the community from incarceration and abusive home situations, and those suffering from addiction and mental health issues just to name a few. Skills to be learned include administrative, marketing, networking, public relations, event planning and volunteer coordination. In the words of Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".
