ACLT Food and Entrepreneurship VISTA

1. The Anchorage Community Land Trust proposes to serve low-income neighborhoods in Anchorage through catalyzing local food-based projects and food business entrepreneurship, building off the successes of ACLT’s Set Up Shop entrepreneurship program and Grow North Farm urban farm program. The VISTA Member will serve to build partnerships around community and economic development in under-served communities. This will be accomplished by increasing ACLT’s business training services to new low-income communities, building capacity and sustainability at Grow North Farm, and supporting food-based community development projects. This VISTA project will support community-based efforts to support business creation, local job growth, and resident leadership. The VISTA member will be serving in a cohort of other VISTAs as a part of Rural Alaska Community Action Program, Inc. (RurAL CAP). They are the only community action program for the state of Alaska and act as an intermediary for the AmeriCorps VISTA Program to place members with non-profit partner sites across the state.
