Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri (CCCNMO) is the charitable services arm of the Diocese of Jefferson City. We provide compassionate social services to residents of mid-Missouri in a variety of department and programs, including Refugee Services, Family Immigration Services, Disaster Response and Recovery, Housing & Financial Counseling, Hispanic Outreach, and Parish Social Ministry. In 2020 CCCNMO launched their Health & Nutrition Services department, which now facilitates a client choice food pantry, senior food boxes, a chronic disease self-management program, a self-monitored blood pressure program, A Matter of Balance program, Walk With Ease program, and more. Member Duties : The Nutrition Education AmeriCorps member will work directly with CCCNMO clients across multiple programs, using the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Life education program designed to change behaviors regarding food and nutrition. The Nutrition Education AmeriCorps member will utilize the CCCNMO demonstration kitchen to model and teach cooking techniques and prepare delicious and healthy food with the help of volunteers, enabling clients to acquire new skills to prepare meals that are more nutritious. The AmeriCorps member will provide culturally relevant healthy recipes to clients, increase their level of comfort with healthy foods, & educate clients on budgeting and shopping for healthy foods.
