Stewards VISTA: Mississippi Park Connection

An AmeriCorps VISTA at Mississippi Park Connection will support the connection between urban residents of Minneapolis-Saint Paul and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, a national park. The VISTA will build capacity for youth education, environmental stewardship, and community programs and support fundraising and communications. Specifically, the AmeriCorps member will create a management system for our Ticket to Ride Scholarship Program that connects low-income students with the river. He/she will also increase our communications and support fundraising efforts for our Mississippi River Crew. Finally, the Corps Member will support fundraising and our membership program by coordinating acknowledgements of members and building opportunities for members into educational and interpretative materials at the Saint Anthony Falls Lock and Dam. Each of these efforts will build capacity toward a capital campaign for a new River Learning Center on the Mississippi River.
