Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism is a small nonprofit organization serving central Nebraska with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention education, information, referral, intervention and recovery services since 1967. The overall goal is to provide resources that will empower youth and adults in an effort to increase the number of youth and adults making healthy lifestyle choices. This VISTA will be imperative in enhancing the capacity of the Council by developing a volunteer program structure, training plan, and strategies to recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers. The VISTA will identify where and how best to utilize volunteers in order to provide and expand prevention and early intervention services in central Nebraska.

Member Duties : The VISTA will first go through On Site Orientation and Training at the Council. They will have time to learn about the organization and gather information on current resources, collaborations, and ongoing needs. The VISTA will then research volunteer programs and develop a strategic plan and structure to implement this program. The VISTA will implement the volunteer program and recruit volunteers for their highlighted needs. The VISTA will meet with the Executive Director to discuss the effectiveness of the program and make changes as needed. The VISTA will support the mission of CNCAA and will grow resources to support outreach, education and awareness. The VISTA will do this by writing grants and supporting their fundraising efforts.
