Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program - EWS
Horizons at The Ethel Walker School builds brighter futures for girls from underserved families by creating year-round academic, artistic, and athletic opportunities, nurturing potential, and inspiring individual dreams in a safe and supportive community. Our program provides a six-week, full-day educational enrichment summer session for Hartford public school students with a range of academic abilities, blends exceptional academics with cultural enrichment and swimming instruction and reflects the culture, values and educational standards of The Ethel Walker School This is an opportunity for a motivated, committed individual who is passionate about making a difference and receiving higher than entry-level responsibilities. The candidate should have some background of volunteer service or nonprofit experience as well as the desire to take on responsibilities that will both challenge them and make an impact on the Greater Hartford community. This volunteer should be A self-starter with a commitment to social justice and educational equity; have a background in Youth Development, Volunteer Management, Grant Writing, Event Planning, Elementary Education and/or Communications. Having knowledge and a skill set in photography, website design, and video editing skills is a plus!

Member Duties : School Year Responsibilities: Promoting the program in the community through traditional and social media efforts; Implementing creative strategies for fiscal sustainability including introductory grant writing and event planning; Using data currently being collected to develop additional stories/case studies of our impact for marketing use. Assist with planning Saturday academies and enrollment activities Summer Program Responsibilities: Shadowing the Executive Director and Academic Coordinator to fully understand the workings of the program; Creating additional community awareness; Developing materials that will help market the program. Research and create a new website content to promote the organization. Research and create new family involvement activities to strengthen the partnership between our organization and the families.
