Lorain County Engagement Coordinator
 
 
 
The Mental Health, Addiction and Recovery Services (MHARS) Board of Lorain County plans, funds and monitors public behavioral health services. The MHARS Board is at the intersection of major health initiatives for the well-being of people in our county, including the Mental Health and Substance Use Priorities of the 2020-2022 Community Health Improvement Plan, Addiction Community Readiness Assessment, the Suicide Prevention Coalition, and the Opiate Action Team. Our VISTA worker will work alongside community health leaders in these efforts, in an education, engagement, and support role that will engage his/her/their creativity and project management skills.

Member Duties : The Engagement Coordinator will learn how to assess stakeholders on key health issues; once completed the Coordinator will translate the results into evidence based prevention strategies to move the community towards action. The Coordinator will support community health priorities by participating in and researching strategies to address suicide and accidental overdose in the Mental Health and Substance Us Priorities in our county. The coordinator will engage a variety of audiences on key educational materials and provide information on mental health issues, substance use and addiction, support for families. The Coordinator will also manage a team of engaged residents, using a grass-roots approach that will reach into communities to provide information and education about behavioral health issues impacting them.
