Vista Opioid Education Coordinator

The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties is a volunteer Board made up of clients, family members, and other community leaders representing the counties it serves. The Board is the community mental health and addiction planning agency, much similar to a School Board and does not directly provide mental health and/or addiction services. The Board contracts with various agencies for mental health and/or addiction services. Services include prevention, treatment and recovery support services. Its main role is to monitor, evaluate, assess, prioritize and plan for mental health and addiction services in the counties it serves. Given that the Board covers three different counties, there are three different hubs and all three have the overall goal to address the opiate epidemic, however, each differs in their projects, membership and frequency of meetings and events. Each county also has different coalitions and health alliances who are also addressing the opiate epidemic as part of their larger goals to decrease substance abuse. Decisions on services are made based on community need assessments, clients and families’ feedback, community agencies demand, needs and gaps. Our goals are: renewing levies in all three counties; expanding diversity among board members; expanding services and resources to culturally diverse populations; increasing board members’ awareness of resources, services, and responsibilities through education; and increase staff workforce for special projects.
