2020 USDA Meal Specialist
 
 
 
As the USDA meal specialist VISTA member at the Central Arkansas Library System, you will utilize data analytics to assess USDA meal programs in Little Rock. By implementing marketing and communications strategies you will help Be Mighty expand USDA meal service in high need areas. Major functions will include creating quarterly reports to track the number of meals served and the total number of operating days, identifying areas in need of additional services, and presenting recommendations. Additionally, you will design flyers with meal site information, publish information online at bemightylittlerock.org and on social media, and generate content. This VISTA member will assist with outreach at community events by creating engaging ways to promote USDA meal programs in Little Rock. Additionally, you will recruit and train meal site volunteers. Applicants should hold a four-year degree in business, math, computer science, nutrition, English, journalism, communications, marketing, or similar. The applicant should be self-motivated, possess strong writing skills, and enjoy public speaking. The applicant should have experience with MS Office Suite, project planning, and volunteer recruitment. VISTA members receive a $12,490 living allowance and have the option between receiving a $6,195 education award or $1,800 end of service stipend. VISTA members have access to AmeriCorps healthcare benefits and receive up to 20 paid days off during their service term.

Member Duties : Manage data for afterschool and summer meal programs in the City of Little Rock. Create quarterly reports tracking the number of meals served and the total number of operating days. Identify areas in need of additional services. Present findings to Be Mighty task force. Work to expand services in high need areas. Assist with the development of marketing and communications materials. Design flyers with information about summer programs. Design flyers with information about afterschool meal programs. Publish information about where kids and teens can eat after school, during the summer, and during school breaks on BeMightyLittleRock.org and social media. Develop content for the web site, social media, reports, and other electronic communications. Facilitate graphic design as needed. Generate content, distribute materials and promote Be Mighty programs and events. Assist with outreach at community events. Recruit, train, and manage volunteers.
