2020 Grants and Development VISTA
 
 
 
As the Grants and Development VISTA member at the Central Arkansas Library System, you will help end poverty by building CALS grants and development efforts specifically for workforce development, food security, housing, and literacy programs and initiatives. You will help CALS better serve low-income patrons by developing sustainable funding streams for programs and projects that alleviate poverty. Major functions will include planning an event, soliciting in-kind donations, and corresponding with donors and volunteers. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the development of a new customer database to ensure the software properly stores and tracks funding. This VISTA member will increase CALS development team’s capacity to apply for and manage grants. Applicants should hold a four-year degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or similar. The applicant should be self-motivated, possess strong writing skills, and enjoy public speaking. The applicant should have experience with MS Office Suite, project planning, and volunteer recruitment. VISTA members receive a $12,490 living allowance and have the option between receiving a $6,195 education award or $1,800 end of service stipend. VISTA members have access to AmeriCorps healthcare benefits and receive up to 20 paid days off during their service term.

Member Duties : Major functions will include event planning, volunteer recruitment, graphic design, maintain event details in the customer database, solicit in-kind donations, and correspond with donors and volunteers. Support the development of a new customer database to ensure the software properly stores and tracks funding. Create communications materials, including standard operating procedures, instructional guides, and data entry and review policies, for the database to ensure its sustainability and usefulness for CALS. This VISTA member will increase CALS development team’s capacity to apply for and manage grants. Support the development of grant-related processes and procedures to ensure sustainability in the case of staff turnover or other unforeseen changes. Research new grant opportunities. Document grant opportunities and track grant deadlines to ensure the efficiency of the grants process. Contribute to grant applications and write applications.
