ShareCorps- Hamilton Living Water Ministry

Hamilton Living Water Ministry has been serving inner city families in Butler County, OH since 1999. We provide two programs. One serves over 300 children grades K-12 each year and together with our volunteers we provide a loving, safe and educational environment after school and during the summer. We focus on academics, but also provide mentoring, awareness and prevention programs, skill-building and enrichment activities. Small groups address many of the challenges our children face daily for emotional support. Our programs reduce retention, especially among Hispanic students and are helping children stay on track for graduating on time. Our second program, The Neighborhood Service Center, provides residents with written and oral (English/Spanish) translation services and referrals and resources to support them during their time of need. No appointment is needed. Referrals connect them to prenatal, medical, food, housing/shelter or for other basic needs. Outreach events and programs are brought into both our children and adults to address the needs of the community.

Member Duties : Our VISTA member will develop curriculum for both our summer and after-school programs for inner-city youth. This will entail researching fun activities to engage all grade levels and putting your ideas into action. Member will also be in charge of developing a marketing strategy utilizing all forms of media. Marketing will include volunteer recruitment, collaboration, fundraising and expanding public awareness of our programs, services and needs. Member will also assist in diversifying our funding through grant opportunities. Member will inspire others with their vision by guiding our staff to share their enthusiasm for the work of our programs.
