OHA Ombuds Outreach and Systems Innovator VISTA
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. This includes physical, mental and social well-being. All Oregonians need quality health care they can afford. Oregon’s Medicaid plan is called the Oregon Health Plan (OHP). OHA has a team of staff who advocate for OHP members, called the Ombuds Program through the External Relations Division that is based in Salem. The goal of the Oregon Health Authority Ombuds Program is to ensure that client experience is central to the Oregon Health Plan and Medicaid delivery. The program assists in transformation to help achieve the Triple Aim: better health, better care and lower costs. The program works on the individual case level to resolve member complaints as well as ensuring that systems, program, and operations issues within the Oregon Health Authority and its contractors identified through individual members are understood and addressed as system barriers. A key piece of Ombuds work is reconnecting OHP members to their Coordinated Care Organization to ensure primary health care and preventative medicine access. Member Duties : The VISTA will develop key program elements to build a sustainable Ombuds program that supports low income Medicaid members. Activities include internal and external program communications and outreach, process and procedure documentation, marketing strategies, team trainings, health equity integration, data collection and reporting, and strengthening of the Ombuds Advisory Council. The VISTA will ensure that outward facing Ombuds program outreach to community organizations and Oregon Medicaid members focuses on populations and groups facing health inequalities and integrates the Oregon Health Authority focus on targeting health inequalities. Specific activities include scheduling and managing meetings, organizing and facilitating team trainings, supporting communication and outreach, researching best practices, strengthen collaborations, and data collection, management and reporting.
