EUREKA! McConnell Science Museum VISTA Program Assistant
The EUREKA! McConnell Science Museum provides hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) learning opportunities and educational resources for our Western Slope Communities. Our mission is to inspire a passion and respect for math and science in our communities. EUREKA! reaches 19,000 individuals each year. This includes over 10,000 visitors to the exhibit hall, more than 6,000 students visiting in organized school field trips, and over 2,000 youth participants in our day and week-long STEAM programs. EUREKA! is in a unique position to engage rural communities on Colorado’s western slope and increase access to advanced, hands-on STEAM learning opportunities for local youth and uplift educational attainment and earning power of the next generation. As we work toward advancing our mission, we also seek to address issues related to poverty in Mesa County and across the western slope by providing enriching educational experiences, encouraging aspirations for continuing education, and offering leadership & internship positions at the museum. Influencing a child’s education impacts their lifelong earning potential and health outcomes.
