The mission of the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris, Inc. (MHAEM) is to promote mental health, including the integration of physical healthcare, to improve the care and treatment of individuals with mental illness, and to remove the stigma associated with emotional and mental disorders. We as a community organization, accomplish our mission through advocacy, education, prevention, early intervention, treatment and service. Family Promise of Morris County (FPMC) is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending the crisis of homelessness faced by Morris County families by partnering with other public and private agencies, religious congregations and community volunteers to provide shelter, case management and mentoring services leading to self-sufficiency

Member Duties : MHAEM and FPMC are looking for 2 VISTA members, one who will BE on site at MHAEM and the other at FPMC. Both VISTA member(s) activities will include engaging new and current landlords and creating relationships with county and community resources for individuals experiencing homelessness. In addition to the above, the VISTA member who will be on site directly with FPMC will spend 40% of their time on development and grant writing to increase funding and opportunities for the county wide program. Both VISTA members will be involved with the Community Advisory Team, Neighbors in Need, as well as various other sub-committees. This position requires pre-screening drug testing and criminal background testing.
