Coach Across America_Baltimore Community Rowing_Half Time
 
 
 
Baltimore Community Rowing is seeking a coach for its juniors outreach program, Reach High Baltimore. Reach High introduces middle and high school students from Baltimore City Public Schools to the sport of rowing and builds scholar athletes within our year-round training program. Reach High athletes compete regionally and nationally with the Baltimore Community Rowing juniors program. Our emphasis is on developing scholar athletes with discipline, self-confidence, and transferable skills for college, career, and life. • Attend all evening and weekend practices as scheduled • Create a welcoming and positive environment for our student athletes • Introduce middle and high school students to the sport of rowing, circuit training, erging, and general fitness concepts. • Run workouts for assigned boats. • Provide technical feedback to athletes in a positive and engaging way • Assist in line up creation and workout planning • Foster a love of rowing in our young athletes • Serve as bus monitor for our daily athlete transportation • Participate in boat and launch maintenance activities with the coaching staff as needed • Assist with trailer loading and unloading for races • Attend weekend races as scheduled with duties to include race day athlete supervision

Member Duties : • A willingness to work with crews of all abilities and love of working with middle and high school aged athletes • A positive, enthusiastic, and engaging approach to teaching • Competitive rowing experience at the high school, college, or master’s level. Previous coaching experience is a plus, but not required. • Must have a Maryland Basic Boaters License or be willing to obtain before starting • Ability to drive a launch and/or willingness to learn • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
