Refugee Youth Internship Program VISTA
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA will work with various government, business, and non-profit communities to help build the capacity of the Refugee Youth Summer Internship Program. The VISTA will increase the effectiveness of support to refugee youth, facilitating in the development of employment experience necessary to move beyond poverty and to achieve long-term career goals. The VISTA will improve the performance and efficiency of participant by hosting site outreach, selection, design new training pathways, and workshops. The VISTA will connect Refugee Summer Internship Program alumni to opportunities for continued growth and post-program follow up. The VISTA candidate will be proficient in or willing to learn more about program management, evaluation, community outreach, and community engagement. The VISTA must have excellent people skills, be able to communicate professionally across cultures, and be passionate about youth development. Salt Lake City has many great attractions. The city offers abundant access to diverse, year-round outdoor recreation as well as plenty of in-town activities and events. Member Duties : • Develop new youth outreach and engagement processes • Design a more rigorous second-year intern program, to include more supervisory and group training responsibilities. • Create a workshop series to engage youth in skill-building activities and lessons • Oversee employer and participant engagement for the refugee youth internship program • Assess program and participant outcomes post-internship • Distribute and collect a community-wide survey to determine needs, accessibility, and barriers to refugee youth services in the Salt Lake valley • Expand and strengthen employer partnerships • Connect program alumni to refugee and mainstream career, education, and skill development opportunities
