6 Month - UCA - Phoenix School Technology Programs Innovator
 
 
 
Serving in Roseburg, OR at Pheonix School, the Technology Programs Innovator will connect students with the possibilities of tomorrow through design and technology. This position aims at cultivating student individual technology skills in our computer lab and ‘makerspace’ through daily assistance with two ‘Design & Manufacturing’ courses. The member will work directly with students to increase the ‘Story-Sharing’ capacity of our school. The member will serve as a resource on our technology team to ensure our computers and advanced technology equipment (3-D Printer, Vinyl Cutter, CNC Laser Cutter, etc) are accessible to students and staff. Finally, the member will partner with English and Social Studies teachers to engage students in the All (Y)ears Project, capturing community stories through the creation of student led podcasts and blogs. United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) engages members in meaningful service to meet critical needs in SW Oregon. UCA projects improve access to community programs in project focus areas of Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Environmental Stewardship. Members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers. Members serve full-time for 6 months, totaling 900 hours for the term of service. Our positions have benefits (education award, monthly stipend, training opportunities, etc). Member Duties : 1) Work with faculty to ensure students have technology skills for future employment opportunities; 2) Instruct students in the computer lab to create materials using our ‘maker’s space’ equipment; 3) Lead students on projects to capture stories and photos of activities in the campus or community; 4) Co-create curriculum and instruct lessons using technology in our English and Social Studies courses; 5) Coach students in creating digital content highlighting Phoenix School culture to be shared on social media and the web; 6) Recruit, coordinate, and celebrate student and community volunteers; 7) Data collection and reporting project activities and outcomes; 8) Implement and/or develop systems that inform Effective Volunteer Management Practices (EVMPs)
