*BMVP - Expand Services for Survivors of Human Trafficking

The HER Campaign's mission is "To help women survivors of human trafficking heal, grow, and find purpose." Sex trafficking and sexual exploitation is a prevalent issue in our world today, a growing problem that has plagued our nation and the state of Montana. (https://humantraffickinghotline.org/state/montana) The desire of HER Campaign and our HER Refuge program is to serve women who are survivors of sexual exploitation including sex trafficking, domestic abuse, and sexual trauma. The majority of trafficking victims come from vulnerable backgrounds with a history of sexual abuse, poverty, foster care, and homelessness. Estimates for the number of people at risk of becoming trafficking victims in the United States varies widely, from 100,000 to 300,000. What is most consistently expressed is the dearth of qualified shelter care programs to aid victims in their healing and restoration back into society. (https://www.shelteredalliance.org/who-we-are) The program ensures survivors of sex trafficking are able to safely step out of a life of poverty and into a life of independence after graduating the HER Refuge program.

Member Duties : Expand programs and services to guide the healing journey of survivors of human trafficking and help sever generational cycles of poverty! The overall goal of this project is to enhance services that provide survivors of human trafficking the option for long-term housing, safety, and economic stability. Survivors will be offered tools to lead a life of independence and rise out of poverty. The VISTA member will build capacity for the HER Campaign by helping to design a community assessment plan in order to determine challenges for survivors. The findings will be crucial in creating sustainability for the services offered through the HER Refuge. The VISTA member will work to enhance the agency's volunteer program and implement strategies to actively recruit a volunteer base. VISTA members will also build and strengthen partnerships with local benefactors and leverage resources designed to support the ongoing needs of survivors.
