Marketing and Communications Specialist

Hope through Housing Foundation (HTHF) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty by implementing programs that empower individuals and change communities. HTHF delivers services and support to low-income residents within National CORE affordable apartment communities aimed at Building Bright Futures for youth, creating Pathways to Economic Empowerment for adults, and building Connections to Care for seniors. HTHF serves over 27,000 residents across 75+ communities in California, Texas and Florida. VISTAs serving this project will be part of a 7-member Inland Empire VISTA team focused on increasing resident access to youth development/teen programming and financial literacy resources. This VISTA will be based at our Corporate Office in Rancho Cucamonga and will be responsible for increasing HTHF's digital presence and social media strategy. By term’s end, the VISTA will have created a handbook outlining their term's work and will have developed and implemented protocol for a Social Media Ambassador program. This project is ideal for those interested in marketing, communications, public affairs, community organizing and fundraising. Through this project, the VISTA will learn more about affordable housing initiatives, building social networks and program development. Although the VISTA is not required to speak Spanish, being bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred. Because this project will require working with our communities, the VISTA may be required to serve during evening and weekend events.

Member Duties : This VISTA will help HTHF build capacity to better serve residents across our entire portfolio by expanding HTHF’s digital presence and developing better communications processes and tools to inform donors, volunteers and community members of HTHF’s residents needs. More specifically, the VISTA will be responsible for conducting an assessment of HTHF’s social media platforms, digital reputation and communication processes. The VISTA will also research digital communication best practices to create policies and procedures that allow HTHF to better outreach to donors, volunteers and community members. The VISTA will also create and implement a Social Media Ambassador program to identify community champions for HTHF. Through this project, the VISTA will gain a diverse social network and knowledge of community organizing, social services, community outreach and marketing strategy.
