Storytelling to Inspire Support

P4K’s mission is to “mentor kids for college today and careers tomorrow”. We service 6,100 students, (pre-k through college) in the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) district, because of its concentrated level of need. We believe that the most powerful tools available to overcome poverty are education and consistent mentor support. Therefore, by engaging students in their educational process, offering them an added layer of support from a caring adult invested in their success, and making certain they are college and career-ready, P4K students are able to look beyond day-to-day survival and begin building towards a successful future. P4K programs ensure: 1. Students’ grades and state test scores are positively impacted through program participation; 2. Students develop life skills and set goals increasing their engagement in the school process and a sense of hope for the future; 3. Students develop a stronger sense of self-worth through goal achievement, participation in strengths-based activities with the consistent presence of positive adult role models; 4. Students will graduate from high school and further their education through some type of post-secondary education. The most qualified applicant for this position will move these efforts forward by providing the community with compelling stories of success – unparalleled outcomes – and examples of engagement that inspire people into action. These skills will be utilized within grant writing and marking leading to increased capacity (funds raised and mentors engaged) to serve more children. Qualities should include exceptional writing skills, critical thinking, aggressive researching skills, and extremely personable, since interviewing mentees and mentors will be key to this position.
