Community Experience and Partnerships VISTA

Since HopeOneSource launched in fall 2015, the Washington, DC community has used this technology to support the local efforts to prevent and end homelessness by increasing access to housing, social, and career services, one text message at a time. For the second year in a row, our community's homeless population has dropped, a 7.6 percent reduction from January 2017 and a 17.3 percent reduction from January 2016, according to local government data. Hypothermia deaths have been reduced by nearly 80% as well during this period. HopeOneSource has been recognized by the White House, IEEE, and Cisco. GOAL 1: Help sustain capacity with HopeOneSource’s technology within the community that results in a systematized increase of service providers continuously using HopeOneSource on their own. This includes helping A/B test, troubleshoot, and continuous quality improvement of all technology HopeOneSource leverages to scale in the DC Metro and beyond. GOAL 2: Build and maintain new and existing partnerships with housing, career, and social service providers in the DC Metro that result in each organization expanding its efforts to increase awareness and access to services for new and existing clients. This community engage includes collecting ongoing feedback and continuous quality improvement.
