Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this growing nonprofit organization. This VISTA will help develop a marketing and outreach plan to promote the “Healthy Parks Healthy People” programs and ensure underserved and low income community members have access to participate in the free community programs. This person will enhance the advertising and outreach strategies used to promote Parks Foundation programs and events via social media, traditional media, and streamlined website design. The mission of Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is to support the parks departments operating in Truckee Meadows including Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County parks. This is accomplished primarily by providing in-park educational and health-based programming for community engagement. The Parks Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization that began operating in 2013. Current programs focus on improving community health and wellness and developing people’s appreciation for the natural and cultural history found in local parks. A special emphasis is placed on increasing access to free programming for low income community members in order to improve education and health outcomes for people living in poverty.
