Volunteer NH Resource Development VISTA
Volunteer NH’s mission is to promote the tradition of volunteerism and ethic of service in New Hampshire. We support and sponsor national service initiatives and provide training, recognition, and a central site for volunteers and volunteer programs to strengthen their communities. Volunteer NH seeks to bridge the gap between the need for resources and the available resources with volunteer service. The social safety net programs available to low-income New Hampshire residents are often provided by state-run and nonprofit organizations. Many of these organizations experience fluctuations in funding, as well as general challenges due to overworked and undercompensated employees, and high staff turnover rates. It is no surprise that these critical organizations rely on volunteers to help support their services to New Hampshire’s most vulnerable residents. Volunteer NH connects the free resources of volunteer service organizations and programs to help low-income and at-risk populations by directing volunteers to where they are needed the most. Services include: providing training to volunteers and managers, assistance with matching of volunteers, and increasing the awareness of volunteers and the critical needs that they meet through recognition initiatives, such as the annual Spirit of NH Awards. Volunteer NH plans to secure funding for its already utilized programs and expand impact of these programs to reach more people and organizations statewide. By building and strengthening important partnerships with businesses interested in supporting and engaging their communities, we can amplify the impact of our offerings to help address the unmet state needs, and offer people opportunities to serve their neighbors.
