Community Planning Support Position at HACBED
 
 
 
Objectives of the Assignment: (1) Support individuals, families, and community organizations by lifting up community voice to develop strategies that share community concerns and tackle general well-being through indirect support including capacity building, program design, and development assistance. (2) Focus on cross collaboration, network facilitation, technical assistance, and resource sharing to support existing and new programs. Work with program partners to better assist those who receive government benefits. (3) Collaborate with community partners and families to engage them in culturally-relevant strategies to address financial and housing-related issues. (4) Support various HACBED-related projects and networks including an Affordable Housing Coalition, the Hoowaiwai Network, Hawaii Island General Plan Update, Resources Match, Hawaii Island Disaster Recovery, and Financial Empowerment Centers. Desired Qualities: Active listening Desire and ability to learn from community-based sources of knowledge Self-motivation Ability to formulate long-range goals and consistently/flexibly assess progress Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment with many moving parts Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills Have a systems level perspective, while able to complete detail oriented tasks Ability to interact with many different audiences and can speak to a group Team player, but able to complete independent tasks Critical thinking Writing background Adaptability Desired Skills/Experience: Grant writing and grant management Business planning Strategic planning Facilitation Quantitative and qualitative research experience Mapping Community and organizational capacity building Budgeting Program assessment and evaluation experience

Member Duties : (1) Utilize interview and transcription skills to document. Useful Skills: writing, active listening, adaptability, research. (2) Assist with various community partnership building activities including meeting facilitation, community outreach, organizing events, and data collection. (3) Leverage resources to maximize the impact of actions and sustainability of efforts with activities such as research, grant writing support, and community engagement. (4) Conduct various types of research (historical, demographic, etc.) and data collection for reports and grant applications. (5) Support community initiatives by providing convening and facilitation support. Synthesize community input into action items. Provide technical assistance, meetings with partners, creating/updating databases, mapping products, and tracking data. (5) Explore and establish additional opportunities and partnerships statewide to employ and scale justice-based initiatives.
