23-24 El Centro de la Raza Afterschool Program Assistant

**This position has multiple start dates and is open until filled** This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. As an organization grounded in the Latino community of Washington State, it is the mission of El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races) to build the Beloved Community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to all the peoples of the world. Our Youth Service Programs follow students through their entire educational journey. Beginning in elementary school, we offer case management to children and their caregivers providing socio-emotional development through a culturally relevant lens. We provide afterschool programming through an applied ethnic studies curriculum that supports identity development, community advocacy, and critical consciousness. Scholars then find us at their high school offering ethnic studies curriculum in partnership with teachers. As scholars transition to adulthood, we offer a number of workforce connections and career counseling to ensure scholars build pathways towards meaningful lives. Alongside these programs, we integrate intergenerational support through monthly workshops in our ‘La Escuelita’ program, a parent/caregiver educational group. This position will support our afterschool program for 6th - 8th graders at our Seattle or Federal Way locations.
