Environmental Educator - SCA Hudson Valley Corps
 
 
 
The SCA member will work with park staff and volunteers to provide environmental education programming at Mine Kill and Max V. Shaul State Parks and the John Burroughs Memorial Historic Site. Member will develop and implement environmental education programs tailored to regional school groups grades K-12, the Schoharie County Youth Bureau, the Schoharie River Center, SUNY Cobleskill students and other organizations, as well as to the public. Together with an additional SCA member, they will assist with all programs and events scheduled at Mine Kill and Max V. Shaul and the New York Power Authority Blenheim-Gilboa Visitor Center such as I Love My Park Day, Snow Fest, Summer Fest, Summer Nature Tent series, kayak clinics and tours, guided hikes, and the Fall Haunted House programs. Additional tasks may include trail building and maintenance, invasive species removal, and daily interaction with the public at the parks. How the AmeriCorps Member’s Role Aligns with the Organization: The Member will play an integral role in providing safe and enjoyable recreational and interpretive opportunities in New York State Parks. Performance Goals for the AmeriCorps Member: Goal 1: Successfully organize and run education programs Goal 2: Develop new lesson plans and interpretive exhibits that can be used in State Parks Goal 3: Learn about all phases of park operations, and assist park staff with a variety of projects
