JAG Partnerships and Pathways-Marketing Coordinator

JAG's mission is to help young people stay in school and to acquire the academic, personal, leadership and vocational skills they will need to be successful upon graduation. JAG's Partnerships and Pathways VISTA project aligns with both the Education and Economic Opportunity focus areas. The VISTA project will seek to improve the capacity of JAG programs across the state, and expects to benefit 1400 Arizona youth. Three VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as community outreach, volunteer and partner engagement, fundraising, and more, over the course of one year. The proposed VISTA project will complement and expand JAG's current efforts by bringing much needed community resources into JAG classrooms and campuses. JAG programs are implemented by a certified teacher, employed by the School District. Each JAG Coordinator is responsible for implementing all aspects of the JAG model, including facilitation of the JAG course, using JAG's project-based curriculum, facilitation of the student-led organization, addressing individualized needs and interests of JAG youth, and supporting the college and career pathways for each JAG student based on the interests and skills they identify through the program. Currently, JAG Coordinators work with limited time away from campus to research and engage local community partners to connect youth with resources needed to meet basic needs, troubleshoot conflicts at home or with peers, and address a variety of other barriers. Additionally, they are challenged to go out and develop relationships with local business to support career exploration and job placement efforts for students. The Partnerships and Pathways VISTA project will provide each JAG Coordinator will much needed support to explore and engage the local partners needed to support their students' needs and support career interests and pathways.

Member Duties : The Marketing Coordinator will support the overall success of the project by increasing capacity to tell the JAG story and recognize the many partners involved. This VISTA member will work closely with the other 2 VISTA positions and JAG staff to increase communication with partners and donors through development of collateral materials, video editing, social media posting, e-newsletters, website content, and more. This will involve working closely with other VISTA members to collect information from JAG programs such as upcoming events, success stories, photos, quotes, etc. to be used in development of marketing materials. The majority of work will be completed at the JAG Central Office, with only occasional local travel. All VISTA members will work together to determine best practices for communicating and marketing local JAG programs and compile resource guides to be used by JAG Coordinators and future VISTA members in year 2 of the project.
