Social Media Coordinator - Sharing Life

Founded in 1999, Sharing Life is a nonprofit organization serving working poor families unable to balance paying bills with purchasing groceries. Our primary goal is assisting families who need help obtaining basic necessities. In 2015, the North Texas Food Bank approached us with an opportunity to serve as the first Hub in North Texas. A Hub acts as a mini-food bank, serving small nonprofits known as Community Distribution Partners (CDPs). Hub operations began June 2016 and Sharing Life has distributed 4 million pounds of nutritious food to hungry North Texans and are on track to distribute 5 million pounds by 2020. In year three of Hub operations, we have seen increased distribution and growth from 13 CDPs during Summer 2016 to 64 partners in mid-2019. In addition to an expanding Hub, client-choice food pantry, and clothing closet, clients receive utility assistance, financial empowerment coaching, VITA income tax assistance, rental assistance, school supplies, toys during our Christmas Faire, weekly summer food in backpacks for students, Thanksgiving baskets, and supplemental food for senior citizens. We provide office space for the North Texas Food Bank to manage SNAP/Medicaid applications and partner with El Centro Community College for basic health care instruction classes. Our executive staff are alumni of the Communities Foundation of Texas D3 Institute and are now in the Working Families Success Initiative Green cohort at CFT. Sharing Life was chosen as the pilot agency for the development of a cloud-based case management system, Pieces Iris, in collaboration with the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation and Pieces Technologies Inc. We are positioned with this increased capacity to become a stronger, more relevant agency. We are committed to excellence, employing best practices, and innovation. Expanding partnerships and collaborations are providing opportunities to strengthen our mission and are key to our success.
