2020-21 Reading Assist Intervention Corps

RAI Corps members are trained to teach reading to struggling, at-risk students on an individual, one-to-one basis. We have openings for half time, reduced full time and full time Corps members. RAI Corps members must be able to commit to at least 6 months of service from December 2020-June 2021. We are currently recruiting for 900 hour service opportunities. Previous teaching experience is not required as RAI Corps members start in December, with an intensive training course designed to prepare members to teach and prepare lessons. Corps members are then embedded into low-income elementary schools in Delaware. Each Corps member is matched with up to 8 students in grades 1 through 3 and receives coaching from a professional reading coach. Ongoing training continues in the format of weekly learning communities, gives you the opportunity to connect with other RAI Corps Members and refine your skills as you teach your students. Corps members transform the lives of students who may have dyslexia or other reading disorders while forming bonds and friendships with their fellow service members.
