Wetland Restoration Outreach Coordinator

The Wetland Restoration Outreach Coordinator VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this non-profit organization. This VISTA will help develop community partnerships and exposure for the proposed Truckee Meadows Nature Study Area. This person will develop a marketing and outreach plan specifically targeting underserved and low socio-economic community members, to promote the use of the Nature Study Area via social media, traditional media, and streamlined website design. This position will focus on communicating the health benefits associated with being in nature as well as the abundant educational opportunities that will be offered on site. These programs will be free of charge and aimed toward underserved and/or low-income community members. These programs aim to alleviate poverty by offering free, easily accessible health and education based opportunities to low-income community members that may not otherwise have access to outdoor educational and recreational activities. The mission of Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is to support the parks departments operating in Truckee Meadows, including Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County parks. We do this primarily by providing in-park programming and opportunities for citizen engagement. TMPF is an independent, nonprofit organization that was incorporated in 2012 and received its 501 (c) (3) determination in 2013. Our programs focus on improving community health and wellness and developing people’s appreciation for the natural and cultural history found in local parks.
