Assistant SW OK Economic Development VISTA
 
 
 
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Please feel free to reach out directly to the program contact listed. This project will focus on rural communities in Southwest Oklahoma. South Western Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA) partners with the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide regional strategic economic development planning. The VISTA will have the opportunity to help SWODA build economic development capacity at the local level. The VISTA will be engaged in communities gathering statistical data and local input about economic development needs. After gathering data, the VISTA will utilize data sharing to encourage and implement more community planning efforts, create Economic Development Action Plans, and develop training for communities. This project is sponsored by the Austin Regional Office (AURO) of the Economic Development Administration (EDA), and will be directly supervised by SWODA in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.

Member Duties : Share information on unique community aspects, needs, desires, strengths and weaknesses. They design, format, and share statistical data effectively with interested community partners. Speak/present information to community groups and interested parties to gather additional information and garner support for the planning process. Work with local media and publications to increase awareness of the project through various media, print, social networks, and local group events. Create/Update Economic Development Action Plans for selected Communities.
