Allied Economic Development Services Coordinator -Lubbock

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Please feel free to reach out directly to the program contact listed. This project will focus on all of the 15 Counties in the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) region. SPAG is partnering with the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide region-wide strategic economic development planning. The Allie Economic Development Services Coordinator (VISTA) will have the opportunity to focus on all of the 15 Counties and individual communities in the SPAG region to build economic development capacity at a more in-depth level. The SPAG region will be broken down into 3-4 County ‘Sub-Regions’ in order to provide the VISTA with a more localized planning area. The VISTA will work with these communities to identify economic and community development needs and resources to meet those needs in an effort to attract and maintain higher-paying jobs and other opportunities. The overall goal is to build capacity in rural, economically distressed communities to alleviate poverty, reduce unemployment, and provide a better quality of life. This project is sponsored by the Austin Regional Office (AURO) of the Economic Development Administration (EDA), and will be directly supervised by SPAG in Lubbock, Texas. The overall EDA Mission is "to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy."
