AmeriCorps Excellence in STEM
 
 
 
Research suggests that a majority of students are unprepared to fill the millions of STEM jobs currently available in the U.S. Miami Dade College AmeriCorps Excellence in STEM (MDC ACES) aims to change that by offering tutoring and study skills support to underserved high schools and college students in the Miami community. MDC ACES is accepting applications for tutors for the 2020 program year at MDC Wolfson Campus, Miami Jackson Senior High School, and iTECH @ Thomas A. Edison Educational Center. All members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $123 plus a Segal Education Award (Scholarship) of $2,321.00, training, certifications, and professional development and networking opportunities. ----- Start Date: January 13, 2020----- Hours/Week: 15 hours----- Priority Application Deadline: October 18, 2019----- Regular Application Deadline & Confirmation of Priority Applicants: November 8, 2019----- Week of November 12, 2019: Meet & Greet with accepted candidates----- November 22, 2019: Final Application Deadline----- December 4-6, 2019: Pre-Orientation at Wolfson Campus----- Week of January 13, 2020: Required 2-Day Orientation at Wolfson Campus----- January 20, 2020: Required National Service Day - MLK Service Day ----- January 21, 2020: First Day of Service at school site

Member Duties : ACES Members will offer tutoring and support in one or more of the following areas:----- Math: Algebra 1, 2, or 3, Geometry, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry, Calculus 1, 2, or 3, Differentials, Statistics.----- Science: Biology, Chemistry 1, 2, or Organic Chemistry, Physics 1, 2, or 3 with or without Calculus. ----- IT/Engineering: 3D printing, 3D printing software (Fusion 360), Laser Cutting, 3D scanning, Cyber Security Fundamentals, Security+, Network+, Linux+, AWS Cloud Essentials, A+ (hardware), A+ (software)----- Other: PERT/SAT/ACT Prep
