Stewards VISTA: CVA - Intermountain Regional Office
National Park Service units are critical contributors to America’s educational ecosystem as places for lifelong learning. The NPS develops and nurtures lifelong connections between the public and parks through a continuum of engaging recreational, educational, service, and work experiences. This AmeriCorps VISTA position is located within the NPS Intermountain Regional Office - Division of Interpretation, Education, Youth and Volunteers. The position will assist in the creation of a region-wide volunteer program management structure that helps local parks meet priority needs, connect with communities, and provide unique experiences to local communities. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to: 1) Establish regional standards of practice in volunteer management, support, and resources; 2) Identify and strengthen partnerships to assist with funding and resource development; 3) Strengthen access to park resources for educational use, job skills development, and career exploration for youth and young adults; 4) Formulate new and creative ways for community members to access park resources; and 5) Assist the growth of priority initiatives within the region as identified by local parks and communities. This position does not include housing, but does include a housing stipend. There will be many opportunities for professional development, as well as networking with 84 national park units and many local, regional, and national non-profit partner organizations.

Member Duties : The NPS Regional VISTA project generates resources and support systems, and creates access and opportunity for underrepresented groups. You will: •Engage current partners and identify avenues to new partnerships in order to establish support, develop resources, and secure funding to ensure region-wide programming and programming needs can be met, both in human and materials resources; •Work to engage new volunteers, while providing current volunteers the support and resources necessary to be successful; •Generate opportunities for youth and young adults to enter public service through volunteerism; •Explain/clarify pathways for educational and professional development; •Work with local partners (non-profit organizations, local, state, and federal agencies, etc.) to engage the Denver metro area community; •Collaborate on events that provide information and resources related to the NPS, partner on projects aimed at career pathways for youth, etc.
