Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity - Donor Relations VISTA

The new 3-year PPHFH strategic plan establishes goals to: open a 2nd ReStore, implement a Critical Home Repair (CHR) program, implement a Faith in Action (FIA) program, and stabilize new home construction at 7 - 8 homes/year. Key to accomplishing these goals are recruiting and managing increased levels of volunteer service and generating additional private sector resources. The current ReStore is operating successfully and generates nearly $600,000 in income that is used in our home construction program. Annually over 25,000 hours of volunteer labor support the success of our ReStore. Opening a 2nd ReStore will increase the earned income available to support home construction as well as our new Critical Home Repair program, but we will need to recruit and manage an increased level of volunteers and raise significant additional resources to acquire the new ReStore building. With the aging of the housing stock in El Paso County, we have identified an opportunity to provide support to maintain owner-occupied homes. Implementation of our CHR program will allow us to bring our knowledge and strengths to preserve these homes. Again, we will need to recruit and manage an increased level of volunteers and raise additional resources to operate this program. Our FIA program seeks to engage churches and faith organizations in generating volunteer support and financial resources for our home construction, CHR and ReStore programs. Our challenge is to expand our capacity to professionally manage these volunteers and donorsEach new Habitat home requires over 3,000 hours of volunteer labor as well as $160,000 in construction costs. As we seek to stabilize our new home construction at 7 to 8 homes / year we will need to recruit and manage an increased level of volunteers and we will need to raise significant additional resources. The support of the VISTA program will make a very substantial impact on our ability to accomplish these goals.

Member Duties : Our goal for this VISTA project is to grow individual donor engagement to yield both more donors and more donations. We will accomplish this goal through three strategies: a) approaching volunteers who are not yet donors, b) outreach to community members not yet involved with PPHFH, and c) moving the giving level of existing donors upward. The VISTA will also support implementation of improved donor outreach strategies, management, and recordkeeping systems. The VISTA’s work will directly support our mission and help achieve the goals of our new three-year strategic plan to increase affordable housing in our community.
