DJJ Building Stronger Communities
 
 
 
To involve youth, staff, families, and volunteers to collaborate with DJJ to support youth currently incarcerated at DJJ and upon their re-entry, provide community mentorship to youth, and identify individualized pathways toward selfsufficiency and honorable discharge upon release from DJJ to break the cycle of poverty and incarceration. The AmeriCorps Vistas will help build this capacity by developing a sustainable volunteer recruitment and management system and “Building Stronger Community Centers” as a logistical means for consistent collaboration.

Member Duties : Vista will help develop a sustainable volunteer recruitment and management system for DJJ, assess ideas, interests and needs of Community stakeholders (youth, staff, volunteers, families) Set up outreach systems and build community partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders; develop targeted marketing strategies; expand volunteers coming into the facility; Community Centers in operation.
