Project YES! connects caring adults with youth in and around the West Town Community. Members serve the community through mentorship, educational, service, artistic, and recreational activities. The opportunities are offered through in/out classroom programming and our community service projects. The goal of the program is to support the students academic achievements, provide alternatives to destructive behaviors, and foster an ethic of serve in the entire community. Project YES! partners with public schools in and around the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. Members will be assigned to one site for the program year to have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students and teachers. While at the site members will be partnered with classroom teachers to assist in all aspects of the academic curriculum. Members will also implement after-school programming based on the needs of the school. Regular training sessions will help members to better serve their schools and community, and give the members the opportunity to plan quality service events. Training's will include: classroom management, community awareness, planning effective volunteer projects, and civic engagement. Project YES! is a team based collaborative environment that encourages members to work together to increase understanding in the schools as well as increasing volunteerism in the community. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Reasonable accommodations are available. Full Time members will serve September 2020 - July 2021 Minimum Time members will serve June 2021 - August 2021
