Stewards VISTA: North Country Trail Association
The North Country Trail Association has a great need to promote the North Country National Scenic Trail as a healthy resource in each community it touches, as well as build a sustainable volunteer base to manage the trail. The VISTA will strive to create an environment that catalyzes youth leaders in the effort to engage their peers in outdoor recreation in a way that will enhance public health, provide for economic develop of communities and professional development of those leaders and the youth they reach. As the Next Generation and Outreach Coordinator, the VISTA has two main areas of responsibility, leading the Next Generation Coalition and guiding the development of our Annual Celebration. To do that the VISTA will lead outreach events to engage community members, develop a sustainable plan for NCTA to engage younger and more diverse audiences and work toward connecting these new audiences with our existing volunteer base. The VISTA will be responsible to develop and train Leaders in skills related to marketing and outreach, nonprofit management, recreation management, public policy advocacy, which will set them up for a bright future.
