Appalachian SCPVP: Sustainable Tourism & Economic Dev. VISTA
 
 
 
Join our current team of VISTAs here on the South Cumberland Plateau! Our positions serve a variety of community organizations with grant writing and fundraising, community organizing, volunteer recruitment, and developing and implementing systems that build an organization's capacity to operate more effectively. Each of our positions offers the unique opportunity to work in a rural, historically and economically depressed region of Tennessee. Through a partnership with SCCF and University of the South (Sewanee), SCPVP provides training to enhance each VISTA member’s personal and professional development. This VISTA program is team-focused, providing group programming, support, and social opportunities for each VISTA. Make a difference! Help us improve our South Cumberland Plateau communities.

Member Duties : Sustainable Tourism and Economic Development AmeriCorps VISTA will build capacity at their site to expand rural economic development activities such as tourism, historical and heritage programs, and events to attract more visitors to Grundy and Marion Counties. The VISTAs will collaborate with the Southeast Tennessee Tourism Association to implement a regional strategy that effectively promotes recreation and sustainable tourism that supports rural, underserved areas and brings revenue and resources to low-income communities. VISTAs will strengthen partnerships with local businesses and residents to engage communities in economic development of sustainable tourism projects that will increase workforce development and employment opportunities for low-income residents. VISTAs will collaborate with the Southeast Tennessee Tourism Association and Southeast Tennessee Development District to identify funding sources to support sustainable tourism in Grundy and Marion Counties.
