Safe Routes to Health - United Church Outreach Ministry

The Michigan Fitness Foundation is dedicated to inspiring active lifestyles and healthy food choices through education, environmental change, community events, and policy leadership. The Safe Routes to Health AmeriCorps Program at the Michigan Fitness Foundation (SR2H) engages 20 half-time AmeriCorps members to serve at host sites statewide. Members will focus on addressing unmet health needs in underserved, low-income communities with the goal of increasing the skills, knowledge, and awareness of how to eat healthy and be active. Using a multigenerational approach to reach across an entire community, SR2H engages AmeriCorps members to connect citizens to health, wellness, and physical activity programs by leading classes, connecting resources, and recruiting volunteers. Members receive training in a variety of areas to support and enhance their service to community residents and develop professional skills. Join us in promoting healthy futures for Michigan communities.
