EDC Compeer: Youth Mentor and Financial Coach

Economic Development Corps (EDC) AmeriCorps are placed in non-profit and educational institutions across the Buffalo-Niagara Region and provide financial literacy and tutoring services to their host site and clients. Participation in the EDC program provides members the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experiences and positions them for success in future employment and community service. EDC members are not required to have prior financial or human services experience. What we look for is a willingness and attitude to commit yourself to a term of service. We want individuals who are thoughtful, kind, hardworking, and have a passion for creating positive change. EDC is committed to: Improving the lives of the people we serve; Helping our partner organizations fulfill their missions; Creating supportive community; Developing and training EDC AmeriCorps to be prepared for the world to come. Members are expected to become not only part of the EDC team, but full participants in the activities and culture of their site. While serving, members receive support from the EDC team at The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc. This support includes an AmeriCorps retreat, orientation, monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members, individualized professional development opportunities, life after AmeriCorps planning, and opportunities to participate in national days of service.
