Community Housing Action Partnership (CHAP)

Established in 2013 by a group of individuals concerned with a lack of accessible and affordable housing, the Community Housing Action Partnership (CHAP) strives to bridge the gap between housing available for those far below and far above the median income of the area. Statistics highlight the desperate need the Morgantown and Monongalia County area has for middle and moderate-income housing as well as properties that are accessible for both physically impaired and aging persons. CHAP’s primary focus is to bring together civic, private, business, and government entities to ensure those living, working, and socially active within our community be provided the opportunity for safe, affordable, and accessible housing. CHAP is currently made up primarily of a Board of Directors, which consists of representatives from the banking, construction, civic, and charitable organizations around our community. Being in the formative stages of development, CHAP seeks a VISTA to serve alongside a part time staff person to build the impact of this nonprofit in Monongalia County. The Community Housing Agency Partnership (CHAP) serves as a consortium of housing developers, local government representatives, funders, banks, and nonprofits focused on providing safe, economical, quality homes through collaborating and leveraging partnerships and resources throughout Monongalia County.
