Arizona Serve - Senior Peer Program Specialist
 
 
 
West Yavapai Guidance Clinic (WYGC) has been operating since 1966, bringing mental health and substance abuse services to Prescott, AZ and the surrounding areas. WYGC remains the largest local provider of mental health, crisis and addiction treatment services in western Yavapai County, serving primarily those who have low to moderate income and/or no income. The Senior Peer Program of WYGC is a volunteer driven prevention program, which assists participants over the age of 60 to increase their social connections via one-on-one support, free support groups, and community education and training on issues affecting seniors. The AmeriCorps member will be supporting all aspects of the program including checking in with volunteers, attending monthly meetings, developing meeting agendas and meeting notes, helping prepare training manuals, registering new members for groups and classes, and collecting evaluation data.

Member Duties : A. Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers: The Member will increase the number of program volunteers by advertising, conducting outreach, and providing support for presentations. They will develop volunteer meeting agendas and notes, maintain contact with volunteers to support data collection, and update volunteer training manuals. The State members will also support development and management of volunteer facilitated groups and classes by responding to calls and registering new participants. B. Collect and manage data on program efficacy: The member will collect and aggregate data pertaining to program volunteers and report on this data for evaluation, grant reporting, and program sustainability purposes. C. Maintain and expand community education and outreach: The member will update program information and share this information with monthly newsletters. They will maintain and update the programs website as well as develop materials for community presentations.
