Afterschool and Summer Meals VISTA - NM
 
 
 
The Afterschool and Summer Meals Expansion VISTA project is a partnership between the Afterschool Alliance and the New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network in their mission to provide high quality afterschool programs for all. VISTA members working on this project work closely with afterschool and summer programs that offer meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and focus on recruiting new sites to participate in this program. This position is based in Albuquerque, NM.

Member Duties : The VISTA will develop systems to promote and support the provision of afterschool meals and snacks and summer enrichment programs connected to summer meal programs. The VISTA will increase participation among low-income children and families and improve access to information for families on available food programs and feeding sites during school breaks and summer through innovative information strategies designed in collaboration with community partners. The VISTA will build the capacity of schools and communities in NM to feed hungry children by convening key stakeholders and coordinate services leading to expanded nutrition services at afterschool/summer program sites. The VISTA will also establish a relationship with the NM Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD) to improve food asset mapping and awareness of how OST plays a key role in reducing hunger.
