According to NH Employment and Security, in 2016 7.4% of Exeter, NH residents are living below the poverty line. Exeter has one of the highest mobile home populations in NH, at 21% of all housing units (in 1990), it ranks as having the second highest proportion of mobile homes the surrounding communities behind Epping, and nearly three times higher than the County average of 6.7%. Manufactured homes reached a high point of about 1100 units in 1990 (21% of the housing stock), and have declined slightly since then. The Town has very limited land areas zoned for manufactured housing. Very little further growth in the mobile home type of manufactured housing is anticipated due to high land cost. This is according to 2010 Exeter Housing Master Plan. Our goal is to help clients break the cycle of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency in the long term. Our services include a food pantry, financial assistance, homeless assistance, healthcare and dental care.

Member Duties : The VISTA member’s goal will be to assist us in breaking the cycle of poverty for our low income clients by implementing, organizing and participating in fundraising efforts in order to support our food pantry and programs. The VISTA member will also assist in increasing our capacity to reach our existing client base and introduce our services to new clients. We will also be looking to for our VISTA member to help with efforts to increase our visibility via PR and social media. SVdP Exeter offers a number of ongoing programs. Our food pantry is open 5 days a week 52 weeks a year. We offer a variety of other crucial services to our low income client base; dental services, medical services, fuel assistance, VITA tax preparation, homeless outreach, NH Employment & Security are all offered here on site as well.
