OMF Media Job Readiness Project

Open Media Foundation (OMF) is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member for one year, beginning in March of 2020. OMF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to putting the power of media and technology into the hands of the people through services, education and tools. This includes video production and website development services, multimedia classes, and the operation of a local media center - Denver Open Media. Join the Open Media Foundation to assist in reaching organizations and individuals who serve low-income communities as we instruct them in the power of media to enhance their missions and broaden their reach. OMF Media Job Readiness AmeriCorps VISTA members will be working on a job-readiness program, helping those in low-income situations by recruiting volunteers and marketing OMF’s education and internship programs, building partnerships with other media organizations, as well as finding funding for a new online job board for media jobs in the Denver area. Applications are due on February 18, 2020. Interviews will happen shortly after. Service begins on March 16, 2020.

Member Duties : OMF Media Job Readiness VISTA job duties: Volunteer Recruitment (Solicit, develop training, and retain volunteers to help job seekers with resume preparation, job searches, interview preparation, and instruction); Fundraising and Sponsorship (Lead efforts to secure funding for the project, particularly for the construction of the online job board; Partnership Building (build partnerships with organizations like the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media, Rocky Mountain PBS, and Colorado Department of Labor to use and promote the job board); Marketing (Market the job board and training program to job seekers and to the employers that will hire them, Market OMF’s internship program, Market OMF’s education programs, Set up regular meet-ups for job seekers and employers); Project Implementation (Help build the job board, Establish training certification program)
